Haqqani condemns additional screening for Pak passengers at US airports
Washington, Jan. 10 (ANI): Pakistan's Ambassador to Washington Husain Haqqani has slammed inclusion of the country in the list of 40 terror-prone nations whose citizens are facing tough airport screening before entering the US.
In his meeting with Richard Holbrooke, Haqqani asked US Special Envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan, to exclude Pakistan from the tough screening list.
Haqqani said it was a Nigerian who attempted to blow up a US-bound plane, but punishment was being mated out on Pakistanis.
"This action of putting Pakistanis passengers under tough screening measures was unnecessary and caused disappointment," The News quoted Haqqani, as saying.
Haqqani said the security measures at the Pakistani airports were very tough and there was not a single incident of any security breach in recent past.
He asked the US authorities to remove the additional security screening from passengers coming from Pakistan to the United States. (ANI)
