Dhaka, Jan 9: A senior Bangladesh minister has alleged former Pakistan prime minister Pervez Musharaff of having a secret meeting with the jailed ULFA leader Anup Chetia in his visit to Dhaka during the time of former prime minister Khaleda Zia of BNP.

"Pervez Musharraf came to Dhaka ... when the Ulfa leader was detained in the (Dhaka Central) jail, from where he was brought to the Sheraton Hotel for a meeting with the President," local government minister Ashraful Islam said.

Islam said that the meeting between Musharaff and Chetia lasted for about one and half hour.

Chetia, who was arrested during the 1996-2001 Awami League regime is still in security custody even after his jail term for cross-border intrusion has expired.

The revelation by Islam came in the backdrop of the investigators report on the alleged links between ULFA, terrorist oufit of Assam and Pakistan's Inter Service Intelligence (ISI).

Islam is the general secretary of the ruling Awami League.
