Russian website's theory on YSR's death shocks AP
Hyderabad, Jan 8: A Russian website report alleging role of the Ambani brothers in the untimely death of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Rajashekara Reddy has sparked off a stir in the state.
Several Reliance Retail outlets in Andhra Pradesh came under attack from YSR supporters after local TV channels aired the conspiracy theory conceptualised by the Russian web magazine, The Exiled.
Congress activists also called for a bandh in several parts of the state on Friday, Jan 8.
The website had speculated that Ambani brother's conspiracy to kill the chief minister stemmed from the Godavari Gas Basin issue.
The gas find by RIL in the Krishna-Godavari basin was treated as national assest by YSR, who also stressed that neither Ambani brothers nor their mother Kokilaben, had any right on the resources.
The website claimed this as the reason behind the industrial giants plotting the assassination of the then chief minister.
Y Rajashekara Reddy died in a chopper crash in Sep 2009.
The Exiled, previously a Moscow-based English-language biweekly free tabloid newspaper, is now published only on the web. The site is known for outrageous and satirical content and investigative reporting.
