SC stays Koli's death sentence in Nithari killings
New Delhi, Jan 7: The Supreme Court on Thursday, Jan 7, stayed the death sentence of Surinder Koli, convicted in the sensational Rimpa Haldar murder case.
Rimpa Haldar was one of the 19 young women who was raped and killed in Nithari.
Moninder Singh Pandher and Koli were sentenced to death by the trial court in Feb 2009 in the Rimpa murder case.
However, the Allahabad High Court had on Sep 11, 2009, acquitted Pandher of the crime while confirming the death sentence on Koli.
