Krishna asks parents not to send children to Oz

New Delhi, Jan 7: External Affairs Minister SM Krishna has advised parents to reconsider their decision of sending children to study in places like Australia.

External Affairs Minister's statement comes after racial attacks continued on Indian students in Australia.

Krishna also urged parents not to send their children to Australia unless it's a specialised or high-tech course.

"I would advise parents to reconsider their decision of sending children to study in places like Australia. I can understand if they go there for specialised courses or reputed technologies," he said.

"The kind of courses for which are students are going for (in Australia) are certainly not encouraging," said Krishna.

"None of us need to be hysterical, but all that we expect is that Indians, whether they are students or otherwise, are safe in countries where they go," he added.

Earlier, the external affairs ministry had issued an advisory to Indian students in Australia especially after two students found murdered.
