Michelle Obama becomes PETA's anti-fur model - unwillingly

London, Jan 6 (ANI): American first lady Michelle Obama has become the unwilling model for an anti-fur campaign organized by animal rights group PETA.

And the White House is not too happy with it.

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) had used a picture of Mrs Obama under the slogan 'Fur-Free and Fabulous'.

She is pictured along with anti-fur celebs Oprah Winfrey, Carrie Underwood, and Tyra Banks in the ad.

As for the reason why PETA used the pic sans Michelle's consent, the group's president, Ingrid Newkirk, said she knows that she can't make such an endorsement, reports Sky News.

In response to the White House criticism, PETA released a statement saying, "We haven't asked the White House to fund or promote the campaign, as they can't do such things, but the fact is that Michelle Obama has issued a statement indicating that she doesn't wear fur, and the world should know that in PETA's eyes, that makes her pretty fabulous."

Mrs Obama's deputy press secretary confirmed that the first lady was fur-free following French first lady Carla Bruni's similar announcement. (ANI)
