Elephant festival celebrated in Assam
Kaziranga (Assam), Jan 6 (ANI): Local and foreign tourists gathered to witness skills of trained elephants at the annual elephant festival at Kaziranga National Park here on Monday.
Assam Forest Minister, Rockybul Hussain, flagged off an elephant rally, which is part of the five-day festival that aims to end man-animal conflict.
Hundreds of school students, who participated as volunteers, were seen carrying placards bearing slogans of wildlife conservation, marching along with 48 adult and baby elephants.
"It's a great pleasure to be here. Kaziranga is my favourite. It's a great pleasure to be here," said British tourist, Mark Sharon.
Kaziranga, with its tall thickets of elephant grass, is an ideal habitat for the pachyderms the famed one-horned rhino, tigers, wild buffaloes, sloth bears, and deer. (ANI)
