Ragging scene in '3 Idiots' under govt scanner

Mumbai, Jan 5: The Mumbai medical college ragging incident has brought the ragging scene in the new Bollywood movie '3 Idiots' under the scanner.

The government of Maharashtra has reportedly asked for the script of the Amir Khan starrer following reports that the ragging in the Seth GS Medical College may have been inspired by a similar scene in the movie.

"We will ask the movie's producer to submit its script, as there are media reports that the Seth Medical college ragging incident nature was similar to the one shown in 3 Idiots," said state medical education minister Vijaykumar Gavit.

In one of the scenes in the movies, the juniors played by Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and R Madhavan are ragged by seniors in the hostel.

"Only after going through the script, future course of action would be decided... Also, we would write to the Censor Board that as far as possible, such scenes should be avoided in movies," Gavit added.

18 students of the medical college were arrested on the charges of ragging, and released on bail on Monday, Jan 4.

The students, including intern doctors, studying occupational and physiotherapy courses allegedly ragged juniors on Sunday, Jan 3 during a New Year party.
