Maoists blow up school in Orissa

Bhubaneshwar, Jan 4: A school building was blown up by Maoists in Orissa's Sundergarh district, police said on Monday, Jan 4.

"The Maoists have blown up a school building in Rehlatu panchayat through landmine last (Sunday) night," Rourkela Superintendent of Police Diptesh Pattnaik said in a News agency report.

Police said that atleast 40 Maoists guerillas were involved in the incident.

The village of Rehlatu panchayat is believed to have come under attack for seeking police protection against the Maoists after a similar blast took place in the village in Dec 2009.
