Govt strips Rathore off his police medals

New Delhi, Jan 4: The Union Home Ministry has decided to strip SPS Rathore, former Haryana DGP and accused in Ruchika molestation case, off his police medals on Monday, Jan 4.

The Medal's Committee of the Home Ministry headed by Union Home Secretary GK Pillai also recommended that police medals of all the tainted officers should be taken back.

The committee's recommendation will be forwarded to President Pratibha Patil for approval.

Rathore was awarded with the medal for his meritorious service in August, 1985.

Earlier, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had written to the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to take back the police medals from the defamed former DGP.
