Rescue operation on to trace six missing students after boat mishap in Assam
Sualkuchi (Assam), Jan 3 (ANI): The rescue operation is on to trace the six students, who went missing, after their boat capsized in river Brahmaputra.
Out of the total 17 students, four boys and two girls are still not traceable. Their boat capsized in Sualkuchi area near Guwahati on Friday evening.
The local fishermen, who were in close proximity, rescued 11 students, when they saw the boat capsizing.
A joint team of the National Disasater Response Force and the Border Security Force are carrying out the rescue operation.
"When we suspect stationary water at some place, the divers are asked to carry an under water search. hey have covered an area ranging from 15 to 20 kilometers, but nothing has been found," said K Singh, BSF rescue official.
As per reports, a group of 17 students had gone for a picnic to celebrate the New Year, where their boat triped and sank down on hitting a rock. (ANI)
