SPS Rathore gets interim bail till Jan 7

Panchkula, Jan 2: Former DGP of Haryana SPS Rathore, accused in Ruchika molestation case has been granted an interim bail till Jan 7 by a local session court on Friday, Jan 1, 2010.

After hearing Abha Rathore, wife and lawyer of SPS Rathore, District and Sessions Judge S P Singh said that Rathore will be granted an interim bail on payment of bail bonds of Rs 100,000 if he is arrested during this period.

Rathore has also be ordered not leave the country without seeking the Court's permission.

The Court has asked the Haryana governement to submit its reply by Jan 6 regarding Rathore's next hearing for interim bail plea which is scheduled for Jan 7.

Alleging SC Girhotra, son Ashu Girhotra and Madhui Prakash's family of trying to become heroes and heroines in public's eyes, Abha said that the facts had been fabricated and interpolated by Madhu Prakash.

Abhu also raised question on the fresh FIRs filed by the Girhotras, adding that some of the FIRs filed against the accused are bailable.

"After 16/17 years the Girhotra and Prakash families are raising this issue," she said.

Pankaj Bhardwaj, Ruchika's lawyer said that Rathore managed everything with the help of politicians and bureacracy.

Rathore was sentenced to six months and fine of Rs 1,000 on Dec 21 for the molestation of Ruchika Girhotra in 1990 but was later released on bail. Ruchika later committed in 1993.
