Mukherjee asks banks to give priority on loans to women SHGs

Kolkata, Dec 31 (ANI) : Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday instructed nationalised banks to give loans to women self help groups (SHG) on priority basis for their economic development.

Addressing the West Bengal Mahila Congress workers here, Murkherjee referred to role of the UPA Government for economic upliftment of women in the country.

He stressed the need for proper propaganda on various welfare schemes being implemented by the Centre for child and women development.

Mukherjee admitted that West Bengal is one of the states which is lagging behind to implement the National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme. (ANI)
