Two bomb attacks hit Iraqi city, 18 killed

Ramadi, Dec 30: At least 18 people were killed and 35 others injured in two bomb attacks in the western Iraqi city of Ramadi on Wednesday, Dec 30.

According to police, the attacks took place in quick succession in central Ramadi, 100 kilometres west of Baghdad.

Many of the wounded are members of the Iraqi security forces.

Sources said the governor of Anbar province, Qassim Mohammed, was killed along with a member of the provincial council and the deputy police commander.

Police Colonel Jabbar Ajaj said the first blast, in which a suicide bomber detonated explosives in a vehicle, was followed shortly afterwards by a second suicide attack.
