Popular Kannada actor Vishnuvardhan dies

New Delhi, Dec 30: Popular Kannada actor Vishnuvardhan died of heart attack in Mysore at 2:20 am on Wednesday, Dec 30.

Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa has ordered for closure of schools and colleges in Karnataka in the honor of the 59-year-old actor.

Security has beefed up in Bangalore as police are expecting a heavy out pour of fans coming to pay homage to Vishnuvardhan, some of whom may turn violent.

Popularly known as the Phoenix of Kannada cinema, Vishnuvardhan was awarded honorary doctorate by Bangalore University.

He is survived by wife Bharati, a popular actress and two adopted daughters, Keerthi and Chandana.

He has acted in 199 films and has won 7 Filmfare Awards, including numerous state government awards.
