Sena praises Dixit for stand against 'outsiders'
Mumbai, Dec 28: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit's statement opposing migration from other states into the national capital has impressed Shiv Sena, which has always expressed its objection to the exodus of North Indians into Maharashtra.
Bal Thackery-led party, which appreciated Dixit for taking a 'clear stand' against the 'outsiders' from UP, Bihar and Haryana, has proposed a 'license system' for the entry into the states of Delhi and Maharashtra.
"We had highlighted the same problem being faced by Mumbai when Shiv Sena was launched on Oct 30, 1966, demanding license system to stop the relentless rush into the metropolis from outside states, hurting locals," the party said in and editorial published in Saamana.
Comparing the 'brave' Congress leader to Indira Gandhi, the editorial said, "A woman chief minister of Delhi has taken a tough posture on the issue but her Maharashtra counterpart has no guts to emulate it to save Mumbai."
