Narasimhan takes charge as Andhra governor
Hyderabad, Dec 28: A day after President Pratibha Patil accepted the resignation of scandal-tainted governor ND Tiwari, governor of Chhattisgarh ES Lakshmi Narasimhan took charge as the governor of Andhra Pradesh.
Narasimhan was administered the oath of office by Andhra Pradesh High Court Chief Justice A Ramesh Dave at a brief function in the Raj Bhavan on Monday, Dec 28 morning.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah, his Cabinet colleagues, leaders of opposition parties, and former chief minister Nadendla Bhaskara Rao were among those who attended the function.
On Sunday, Dec 27, President Patil, who accepted the resignation of ND Tiwari, asked Narasimhan to discharge the duties in the Raj Bhavan at Hyderabad till further arrangements were made.
Tiwari submitted his resignation on Saturday, Dec 26, citing health reasons. The resignation came a day after a local TV channel aired a sting operation video in which the 86-year-old governor was found in compromising position with three young women.
