AP sex scandal: Prez accepts Tiwari's resignation
New Delhi, Dec 27: President Pratibha Patil has accepted the resignation of governor of Andhra Pradesh ND Tiwari and has appointed the governor of Chattisgarh ESL Narasimhan to discharge the duties till further arrangements are made.
A communique from Rashtrapati Bhavan released on Sunday, Dec 27 said, "The president of India has accepted the resignation of Narayan Datt Tiwari as governor of Andhra Pradesh and has appointed ESL Narasimhan, governor of Chhattisgarh to discharge the functions of the governor of Andhra Pradesh in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements for the office of the Governor of Andhra Pradesh are made."
The octogenarian leader submitted his resignation on Saturday, Dec 26, citing poor health.
The governor's step came in the wake of the massive controversy stirred by a local media channel 'ABN Andhra Jyothy' airing explicit footage reportedly showing the governor in a compromising position with three young women.
