Guwati: ULFA terror bid foiled, militant arrested
Guwati, Dec 27: A suspected United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) terrorist was arrested by a joint team of police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) during routine patrolling on Saturday, Dec 26 night.
The militant identified as Dharmendra Kalita, who was carrying one kilogram RDX, half kilogram cycle iron balls and half kilogram screws, was arrested near the IOC refinery Noonmati in Guwahati.
The police said that the man was spotted at around 2130 hrs IST on Saturday, Dec 26, walking along the railway line near the Sector 3 area of refinery complex.
When he was asked to stop, he tried to run away, the police added.
According to sources, the explosives were brought for blasts at the refinery and nearby places. Following this, security has been tightened up in the areas close to the refinery
The terrorist is being interrogated.
