Mumbai: Boy dies after falling into open manhole
Mumbai, Dec 23: A five-year-old boy, who had gone missing since Tuesday afternoon, Dec 22, was found dead in a open manhole in northeast Mumbai's Mankhurd suburb.
There was a frantic search for the boy who was reported missing from Indira Nagar, a Samajwadi Party leader of the area said.
"A passer-by happened to peep inside an open manhole and saw the child's hands above the muck and gutter water," said Aqeel Khan, a Samajwadi Party worker.
With the help of locals, the boy brought out of the gutter and rushed to a nearby hospital. But he was pronounced dead on admission, he added.
This is the second instance in two days of a child dying after falling into a gutter in Mankhurd area.
