Bangaloreans can party till 1am on new year's eve
Bangalore, Dec 23: There is some good news for the Bangaloreans looking to party hard and long into the night on New Year's eve as the city police commissioner, Shankar M Bidari has extended the party deadline to 1 am on Jan 1, 2010.
"The deadline extension is applicable to hotels, eateries, restaurants and bars to keep them open up to 1 am on Jan 1, 2010," Mr Bidari has been quoted as saying in news reports.
Currently the deadline for bars is 11:30 pm while the hotels are expected to close at midnight.
In 2009, the new year's eve deadline was pushed to 12.30 am.
The new deadline, which came in response to the requests from managements of various hotels, bars and restaurants, also applies to pubs, clubs and bars attached to restaurants with the license under the Karnataka Excise Act.
However, the police intends to raid private parties. So if you are planning on serving liquor at a farmhouse or a resort, make sure you have a licence from the state excise department, Mr Bidari has informed.
