Kapil Sibal briefs Lord Mandelson on India's education sector
New Delhi, Dec 22(ANI): Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal on Tuesday called on U.K. Business Secretary Lord Mandelson in the national capital and underlined India's intent to expand education sector without compromising the quality.
Sibal said that the Indian entrepreneurs and industry will need to get involved more in education in order to supplement the Government's efforts, which is required for adequate capacity building in education.
The Minister also emphasized that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has said that 500 million Indians must be skilled by 2010.
"Not only is capacity building required for this, but we also need to work with industry for skills to be developed for the market," Sibal said.
Sibal is scheduled to visit U.K. in January and there he will be taking a first hand look at the education system, especially the school education system in the context of accreditation, vocational training and skill development. (ANI)
