Punish guilty police officers for 26/11: Deshmukh

Mumbai, Dec 21: Former chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has sought action against Mumbai police officers who were responsible for the lapses during the 26/11 terror attacks.

"Politicians were punished after the 26/11. Similarly erring cops must also be punished," Deshmukh said.

Deshmukh was replaced by Ashok Chavan as the Maharashtra Chief Minister after the Mumbai terror attack.

Deshmukh further said, "We have paid the price. But, what about those who were wielding the guns and were suppose to protect the city?"

Deskhmukh statements comes ahead of the tabling of the Ram Pradhan Committee report on 26/11 terror attacks in the Maharashtra Assembly on Monday, Dec 21.

The report says there was poor cohesion and communication in the working of the Police Commissioner's office.

The Ram Pradhan report also claimes that Mumbai police were severely lacking in arms and ammunition, and that the bullet-proof jackets were shoddy.
