Malik claims only 10 NRO cases pending against PPP leaders
Islamabad, Dec. 21 (ANI): Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has claimed that only 10 of the 8,442 cases withdrawn under the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) are against Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leaders.
"A total of 8,442 cases were withdrawn under the National Reconciliation Ordinance and in only 10 cases the accused belong to the PPP," the Daily Times quoted Malik, as saying.
He added that the government respects the superior judiciary and would implement its verdict in letter and spirit.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had declared the NRO unconstitutional and void form the outset.
Speaking about the military operation in South Waziristan, Malik said Pakistan was fighting the war on terror for its own survival and would achieve success in its bid to root out militancy from the country. (ANI)
