India to ask Headley's extradition after US trial
Siliguri, Dec 21: Union Home Secretary G K Pillai has said that India will seek extradition of US terror suspect David Headley from US after a chargesheet is filed against him.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Dec 21, he said, "When our investigation is complete, we will file a chargesheet in an Indian court. After filing the chargesheet, we will take a warrant of arrest."
He further said, "After getting the warrant of arrest, we will approach America (for extradition)."
Pillai said investigation with regard to Headley, who had allegedly conducted recce before 26/11 attacks, was being done by the National Investigation Agency.
49-year-old, Headley has been in custody in the US since Oct 2009 for plotting terror attacks.
