Decision on Telangana issue soon: PM
New Delhi, Dec 21: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday, Dec 21, assured non-Telangana Andhra MPs that a decision on the Telangana issue could be taken by Tuesday, Dec 22.
A group of MPs from Rayalseema and coastal regions led by Congress leader K S Rao met the PM this morning to demand an assurance that Telangana will not be separated from Andhra.
Speaking to reporters, K S Rao said, "PM said that he understands that it is a grave situation. He said he is sitting with his colleagues and by tomorrow a decision could be taken to bring things in order."
"We told the prime minister that we do not want any division of the state...He understood our position. In a surcharged atmosphere, this is not a situation to think about Telangana," Rao said.
Rao said that the PM assured him that a solution which is acceptable to all parties will be arrived at soon.
