Washington Mayor signs gay marriage bill
Washington, Dec 19: Gay marriage bill was signed by Washington Mayor Adrian M. Fenty on Friday, Dec 18.
However the bill legalizing gay marriage will not come into affect immediately as it has to pass 30 days of Congressional review.
The Congress is the only authority to decide over DC's laws.
Supporters hope that Congress will have no objection, so that gay couples can get married as early as March.
