Voting starts in Manipur Assembly constituency
Imphal, Dec 19: Voting in Yaiskul Assembly constituency of Imphal East district began at 7 am on Saturday, Dec 19 amidst tight security.
Metal detectors have been used at some polling stations, including Wangkhei Boys Junior High School.
28 polling stations in the state will be secured by Central para military forces, BSF and CRPF, especially in the nine hyper sensitive polling stations.
The by-elections which was necessitated as a result of the death of Congress MLA E Kunjeshore, father of Congress candidate E Suraj is likely to attract nearly 23,499 voters, including 12,703 women.
The polls will be a crucial for E Suraj (Congress), H Jayadev (independent), S Rajen (Janata Dal Secular) and A Jagadish (independent).
The voting is expected to end by 3 pm.
Counting will be done on Dec 23.
