Mexico: Severed heads of six policemen found
Tijuana, Dec 17: Suspected drug smugglers have dumped the severed heads of six police officers outside a church in the northern Mexican state of Durango, police said.
The heads were found on Wednesday, Dec 16, in the township of Cuencame a day after the officers were reported kidnapped.
A spokesman for the state attorney general's office said the six human heads were found by garbage collectors in plastic bags in a garden.
According to police, this was a revenge attack by the Gulf cartel for the killing of 10 gang members last week.
Drug wars in Mexico have claimed thousands of lives in recent years, with more than 1,000 people killed already in 2009.
