Madhani's wife denied bail, arrested
Kochi, Dec 17: Sufiya Madhani, the wife of PDP leader Abdul Madhani was arrested on Thursday, Dec 17, after the Kerala High Court denied her anticipatory bail.
Sufiya Madhani is an accused in the Kalamassery bus burning case.
Justice K T Sankaran dismissed her bail plea stating that, prima facie, there was evidence that terrorism took place and there were serious allegations against the petitioner of waging war against the country.
Sufiya was named 10th accused in the case early this month. The first accused in the case is south India chief of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) T Nazeer.
Nazeer was arrested along with his associate by the Bangladeshi Rifles and handed over to Indian security agencies recently.
A Tamil Nadu State Transport bus was burnt in Kalamasserry after reports that Madhani was ill-treated in Coimbatore jail, where he was an under trial in 1998 Coimbatore bomb blast case.
