PRP MLAs revolt Chiru's support for united Andhra

Hyderabad, Dec 16: Actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi, who was expected to make an announcement in favour of united Andhra Pradesh, is now caught in a tough spot as his Prajya Rajyam Party (PRP) is split over the issue.

There are reports that the party chief's stance against the creation of Telangana has resulted in a rift in the party.

The leaders of the party, particularly from the Telangana region, have revolted against Chiranjeevi's decision to oppose the creation of the new state.

Chiranjeevi is believed to be holding another round of talks over the matter with his party MLAs.

Around 16 PRP MLAs hailing from the coastal and Rayalaseem regions of Andhra Pradesh had submitted their resignations last week protesting the division of the state to establish a separate Telangana.

Chiranjeevi himself comes from coastal Andhra and represents Tirupati assembly constituency.
