BSE to open 10 minutes early from Dec 18
Mumbai, Dec 16: Starting from Friday, Dec 18, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will start trading ten minutes earlier at 9:44 am as opposed to the present 9:55 am.
The continuous trading session in the equity and derivatives segments will be from 9.45 am to 3.30 pm on all business days, BSE said in a statement.
This is the first step towards implementing the long-term strategy of timing changes of the exchange, which has been formulated to attract foreign investors.
In Oct 2009, the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) gave its approval for long trading hours in the stock exchanges.
This came in response to National Stock Exchange's (NSE) request to extend market hours by two-and-a-half hours between 9 am and 5 pm.
