Activists try to disrupt UN climate talks
Copenhagen, Dec 16: Around 100 climate activists were arrested on Wednesday, Dec 16, for trying to break into a UN conference where 194 nations are discussing on a deal to curb global warming.
Police spokesman Johnny Lundberg said, "The activists were arrested for attempting to pass through the security perimeter set up around the suburban conference center."
"We've taken measures to ensure that activists do not have stones, Molotov cocktails or other illegal objects in their bags that could be used against us," Lundberg was quoted by news agency as saying.
However, there were no reports of injuries.
Protesters said they wanted to take over the global conference and turn it into a 'people's assembly'.
