23 H1N1 deaths reported in India, toll to 730
New Delhi, Dec 16: At least 23 people died of deadly Swine Flu on Tuesday, Dec 15, taking the total toll due to Influenza A (H1N1) to 730 in the country, health authorities here said.
11 deaths occurred in Haryana due to swine flu in the last 10 days, but were confirmed on Tuesday evening, Dec 15. With these deaths, the toll in the state has gone up to 22.
Rajasthan continued to see swine flu deaths with four fatalities. The toll in the state has now touched 100.
Two deaths each were reported from Punjab, Goa and Gujarat, while one death each occurred in the national capital and Uttarakhand.
"Delhi recorded 136 new cases of swine flu on Tuesday, Dec 15. Of them, 78 were children. This has taken the cumulative total number of swine flu cases in the capital to 7,642," said Anjana Prakash, additional nodal officer handling swine flu cases.
Also, 194 new cases were reported in the country, taking the total number of people affected with the contagious flu to 22,164.
