Pakistani-Americans sentenced for terror plot

Atlanta, Dec 14: Two Pakistani-Americans were sentenced to 17 and 13 years respectively in United States for assisting in terror plot by sending videotapes of US landmarks.

The sentencing of Ehsanul Islam Sadequee and Syed Haris Ahmed adds to list of growing number of Pakistani-Americans who have been charged with plotting terror attacks.

Taking offence at Sadequee's repeated refusal to stand when he was asked to do so, Judge William Duffey said that the sentencing will be a lesson for many like him who dare to engage in terrorist activities.

Instead of utilizing the time given to him to speak in his defence, Sadequee chose to proclaim his faith.

Sadequee said that he is not subjected to anyone's authority other than God.

"You and others have distorted the values of your faith. You are a myopic, self-interested person," the judge said when Ahmed too refused to plead against his sentencing.
