Pak govt, US Embassy at loggerheads over unregistered vehicles
Islamabad, Dec. 14 (ANI): A serious row has erupted between Pakistan's Interior Ministry and the US Embassy in Islamabad over the use of non-registered vehicles by the embassy.
According to The Nation, Interior Ministry and the US Embassy are at the loggerheads after an incident on Saturday in which Lahore Police had impounded a non-registered vehicle, which the US Embassy claimed as its property.
Sources said the Lahore Police confiscated two vehicles and one of them was released on the intervention of US Consulate high-ups.
However, one non-registered vehicle has not been released.
Pakistan's Interior Ministry has turned down the US Embassy plea seeking release of the impounded car.
"The Ministry has taken serious note of the incident that has shaken confidence of the local law enforcement agencies", the source said. (ANI)
