Italy PM Berlusconi hit in the face, left bleeding
Rome, Dec 14: Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was hit in the face and left bleeding on Sunday, Dec 13 after he finished delivering a speech at Milan.
A man, allegedly with history of mental health problems, stuck the 73-year-old premier with a statue.
Berlusconi, who was signing autographs when he was attacked, was left bleeding profusely from his left upper lip and cheek.
The video footage shows that prime minister with blood under his nose, on his mouth and under one eye. The stunned leader was lifted by his aides and put into the back of a car.
However, he reportedly got out of the car to show that he was not critically injured.
The prime minister has been taken to San Raffaele Hospital, where he has been kept for overnight observation.
The 42-year-old assailant has been arrested.
