Telangana: MLAs requested to withdraw resignation

Hyderabad, Dec 12: In an attempt to stabilize situation, Andhra Pradesh government's Chief Whip M Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday, Dec 11, requested MLAs to withdraw their resignation to control emotional upsurge triggered by the declaration by separate Telangana.

"There is an upsurge of emotions over the Telangana issue. If you, the leaders, also get emotional and resign, it is not going to help reduce the emotions. My only appeal to all the brother MLAs is to withdraw the resignations. It will help the matters," he said.

130 MLAs resigned in protest against the divison of Andhra Pradesh and declaration of a separate Telangana state.

Following the turmoil, Chief Minister K Rosaiah appealed to the politicians and political organization to exercise restraint in the tense situation.

Students association and politicians had called a joint bandh in Rayalseema and Coastal Andhra on Friday, Dec 11 in protest against separate Telangana
