Darjeeling among world's finest places to have tea

London, Dec 12: Darjeeling, a hill station in India has made it to the world's top 10 finest places to enjoy a cup of a tea, according to a guide published by travel publishing firm Lonely Planet.

Darjeeling ranks nine in the list, while the Ritz in London has been placed first.

"The plantations of Darjeeling at the foot of the Himalayas, where visitors can marvel at the deep-green leafy profusion of tea cascading down the hillsides", the guide noted as the criteria for selecting it.

Each of the locales has been chosen for its exquisite utensils, locales and rituals surrounding the intake of tea.

Second on the list is Trans-Siberian Railway, Russia/Central Asia followed by Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina for the third place.

Yueyang, China ranks fourth in the list and Sahara Desert figures fifth.

Uji in Japan, Inca Trail in Peru, Boston in USA and Hill Country and Sri Lanka ranks sixth, seventh, eight and ten respectively.
