Railways initiates Sevok to Rangpo line in Sikkim
New Delhi, Dec 11 (ANI): Union Minister of State for Railways E Ahmed informed the Rajya Sabha on Friday that the Railways has taken up the lining work of 52.7 kilometre long Sevok to Rangpo line in Sikkim.
In a written reply Ahmed said the cost as per the initial survey is estimated to be Rs. 1339.48 crore.
He also informed the Rajya Sabha that the final location survey is in progress and the work has been entrusted to M/s IRCON, a public sector undertaking, under the railway ministry for execution.
While replying to another question Ahmed informed the house that the gauge conversion project of Lumding-Silchar-Jiribam, Badarpur-Kumarghat line in Assam has also been initiated,
In the first phase the earthwork, construction of major and minor bridges, tunneling and ballasting etc. have been taken up, Ahmed said.
"Overall physical progress is about 45 per cent. The progress is adversely affected due to law and order problems in the region," he added. (ANI)
