Pratibha Patil set to sail in INS Viraat

New Delhi, Dec 11: After tasting heights as a pilot of Indian Air Force Sukhoi fighter jet in Nov 2009, President Pratibha Patil is gearing up to to be on board INS Viraat.

INS Viraat, a flagship of Indian Navy is an 28,000-tonne Centaur class aircraft carrier and has been in the Indian Navy for the last 23 years.

official sources said that Patil is scheduled to sail on Dec 28, which the Supreme Commander of Armed Forces feels is an opportune visit to have first-hand view of preparedness in coastal security post 26/11 terror attacks.

Patil is expected to go on winter retreat at Nilayam in Hyderabad after the visit.
