Devout Christians cleared of abusing hijab attired Muslim hotel guest

London, Dec.10 (ANI): A devout Christian couple were cleared of insulting a Muslim guest at their hotel after a judge heard that she had claimed Jesus was a "minor prophet" and the Bible was untrue.

In an investigation that cost taxpayers 10,000 pounds, hoteliers Ben and Sharon Vogelenzang were accused of "ranting" at white Muslim convert Ericka Tazi, 60, for wearing a hijab headdress.

Tazi alleged she was accused of being a "terrorist" and that the hoteliers likened the prophet Mohammed to Adolf Hitler.

But the court was told Tazi hit back, saying: "I've tried Jesus, it didn't work for me, but the Bible is untrue anyway and Jesus is a minor prophet".

The judge, sitting at Liverpool Magistrates' Court, cleared the pair of religiously aggravated abuse after damning Tazi's evidence.

The Daily Express quoted District Judge Richard Clancy, as saying: "People have gone to great lengths to preserve religious freedoms and indeed many wars have been caused by religion. It is often said that you should not speak about politics or religion because it is a tinderbox, which could set everything alight.

That is unfortunately what has happened here because of people's entrenched positions." (ANI)
