Azad wants Parliament members to take interest in health sector
New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Thursday said that the Members of Parliamentary Standing Committee and Consultative Committee should emerge as a strong voice for health sector both in Parliament and outside.
Chairing a meeting of Parliamentary Consultative Committee on Health, he said: "There is need to create an atmosphere for better accountability and progress of health related initiatives at both Central and State level as health is a State subject.
He also reminded the Members about the letter that he wrote to them for selecting their respective areas of interest in which they would like to contribute to health sector. The consultative committee meeting today discussed reproductive and child health programmes.
In a lively and constructive discussion that was preceded by a comprehensive presentation on reproductive and child health programmes, the Members emphasized need for better monitoring. (ANI)
