'SL taking steps to acquire LTTE assets'
Colombo, Dec 9: Sri Lanka Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake said that the country has taken steps to acquire LTTE's assets and will utilise them for carrying out developmental activities here.
Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, Dec 8, he said that intelligence authorities were now gathering information about LTTE assets in various countries.
"Intelligence sources are gathering information on the assets of LTTE. Steps are being taken to bring those assets to Sri Lanka," he said in reply to a query.
He further said, "Detained LTTE leader Kumaran Pathmanathan has revealed details about LTTE's bank accounts and other details about the organisation."
"As these assets belong to the people of the country, they need to be used for the development of the nation," he added.
