Cong seeks opinion of all parties over Telangana

Hyderabad, Dec 8: With TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao continuing his fast unto death for separate Telangana, the ruling Congress party sought opinion of all the parties to find a solution.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Monday night, Dec 7, sought the opinion of all the parties of the state at an all party meeting, convened on the direction of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

The Congress party said it would abide by the decision of its central leadership and the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM).

Speaking to reporters, Information and Public Relations Minister J Geeta Reddy said that since Congress was a national party, it would abide by the decision of its central leadership.

The party also said it would take a stand in couple of days but all other parties backed the demand for giving separate statehood to Telangana region, comprising 10 districts including Hyderabad.

The TRS, Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the two communist parties, the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) and Lok Satta said if the government moves a resolution in the Assembly, they would support it.

KCR's fast is getting support from students, teachers, government employees, lawyers and other sections of the society.
