AIDS patient left to die in AP hospital: Report
Hyderabad, Dec 8: Exposing the kind of treatment meted out to the AIDS patients in India, a media report has revealed that an AIDS patient died unattended in the premises of a state-run hospital in Andhra Pradesh.
The body of the middle-aged woman, which was found in the premises of Tirupati's Sri Venkateshwara Ramnarain Ruia Government General Hospital, was left unclaimed by her relatives, CNN-IBN reported on Tuesday, Dec 8.
The corpse was reportedly left there until members of the voluntary organisation working for AIDS patients in the hospital found the body.
"When we asked the hospital authorities about it they said such cases keep coming and also we do not know who she was. Once in a year the hospital takes out their publications talking about what they have done for AIDS patients and this is how they treat them. Their attitude towards the patient is very irresponsible," Muneeswary, a member of the voluntary organisation was quoted as saying in the report.
