Situation in Punjab under control, assures CM
Chandigarh, Dec 7: After violence and arson shook Ludhiana for two days, the Punjab Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal assured that the situation in the state was under control.
"The government is keeping a close tab on the situation and monitoring it closely," Badal told reporters outside the state assembly before the commencement of its brief winter session.
The chief minister also turned down the opposition's demand seeking president's rule in the state for alleged failure of law and order.
Sikhs objecting to a religious congregation by a different sect clashed with police in Ludhiana on Saturday, Dec 5. While several people were injured in the agitation, one protester was killed in police firing.
