Maya allows Rahul's two-day state visit

Lucknow, Dec 7: Mayawati has allowed Rahul Gandhi to come on a two-day state visit, a TV news report said.

Earlier it was reported that UP Tourism department had cancelled the conference hall where Rahul was planning to have a press conference.

The district authorities said that the decision was made by the senior officials as the Lucknow Mahotsav has been extended to Dec 8.

Reacting to the cancellation, state Congress spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh had said that the move was absurd as there was no objection until the last minute.

"It is absurd as the tourism department officials also attended a meeting between SPG and the state police. Till yesterday the entire administration was cooperating,", Singh said.
