TN govt orders closure of Nagapattinam school
Chennai, Dec 5 (ANI): The Tamil Nadu Government on Saturday ordered the closure of kindergarten classes in the Kalaivaani Mega Matriculation School, Kariapattinam, in Nagapattinam district whose van was turned into pond killing 10 students and a teacher on Thursday.
Two teachers and twenty-five students were inside the school van, when the mishap took place near Nagakudaiyan in the Nagapattinam district.
According to eyewitness, the school teacher, 21-year-old Suganthi made a supreme sacrifice while saving the children.
Earlier, the State Government had announced a compensation of fifty thousand rupees to the families of all those who lost their lives in the accident.
Meanwhile, the state road transport department has initiated a review of safety measures taken by the transport vehicles of educational institutions. (ANI)
