Govt says no to Dinakaran's promotion to SC
New Delhi, Dec 5: The Central government has rejected the Supreme Court collegium's recommendation to promote PD Dinakaran to the apex court citing that there was enough proof linking the Karnataka High Court chief justice to questionable land deals.
Sources have revealed that the Law Ministry has returned the recommendation file to the Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan and has asked collegium to reconsider the decision.
This step by the ministry is learnt to have been pushed by the fact that the probes conducted by the Intelligence Bureau and District Collector of Tiruvallur were enough to deny Dinakaran elevation to the Supreme Court.
Dinakaran has been accused of indulging in land grabbing in Kaverirajapuram in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu.
